Random Order is a series of ceramic vessels that investigate the concept of structure and order and the antithesis – nature and organic expression.
The contrast and balance is explored conceptually, formally and as a surface.
The forms are derived from research into natural materials – from a natural, organic existence to man’s intervention for use in the urban environment. The hand-built ceramic forms are cut, sliced and pierced imitating a semi industrial process.
Multi-layered surfaces emphasise and echo contrast and balance in the form. Rigid structural lines and blocks of colour juxtapose erratic, spontaneous handwritten text and numerical symbolism.
