Martin Pearce

The development and evolution of form is at the root of my work. A quiet interplay of shape and surface. Though non-figurative in nature, ideas of landscape, molecular structures or biomorphism often emerge. I enjoy this ambiguity, which raises questions about perception and the interpretation of abstraction, both for the viewer and the maker.

These stoneware pieces are made using slab building and coiling techniques and surfaces are finished in vitreous slips and glazes. Many are multiple fired.
