The work I have been making is concerned with groups or collections. These include collections of spoons and a series of ‘Still Life’ compositions.
My interest in the dialogue between drawing, form and surface has often led me to make flattened forms to expose sharply drawn edges that contrast with looser textured surfaces. My groups of ‘Still Lives’ explore this aspect of my work.
The ‘spoon collections’ have allowed me to explore familiar, ubiquitous objects that for me are often laden with emotional and tacit meaning. They are more intimate clay studies with a subversive agenda of their own.
