Kathleen Standen

The South West of Ireland is where Kathleen makes her vessels in coloured porcelain clay with organic additions. The ever changing patterns of weather together with rock strata, moving and still water, and wild flowers are just some of the influences which are reflected in the textures, colours and glazes. However, the tools of trade used in the fishing industry such as floats, buoys and winches, can also be seen in the forms, thereby combining utility and beauty. Her work encompasses small sculptures and vessels to large sculptures for display in gardens.
