My ceramic forms are hand built by pinching and coiling, or wheel thrown and altered. I make individual sculptural pieces – mostly vessels which have a rim which rolls over gently or peaks precipitously, defining the shape of the piece, connecting inner and outer contrasting surfaces. The interplay of light and shade on the rim is enhanced by texture, drawing and colour providing rhythm and movement. The larger pieces are painted with slips, wax and oxides, burnished and fired to cone 04. The smaller porcelain forms are painted with slips, wax and oxides, glazed and fired to cone 9.
